Reclassification

Reclassification from Associate to Full Membership/Certification

A complete application for reclassification will include the following:
  • A completed CTTAM re-class application form
  • Part A of the application form & academic documentation*, course transcripts
      *applies only to Associates who had academic requirements for reclassification
  • Part B of the application form - A detailed work history
  • Part C of the application form - A detailed current job description signed by the applicant’s supervisor plus the signed affidavit on page 2 of the application form
  • The names and contact information for three professional references
  • The reclassification fee of $45

Professional Practice Exam (PPE) and Certification

  • The Registration Form for the Professional Practice Exam, which is a requirement for certification, is on the home page under "Forms and Downloads".
  • Associates who Register with CTTAM in their first year of Graduation will have the registration fee reduced from $140.00 to $25 and will need to obtain their Professional Practice Manual from the CTTAM office.
  • Associates must write the PPE prior to their reclassification.

Reclassification from Technician to Technologist

Certified Engineering Technicians should consult with the Registrar prior to making application for reclassification to Technologist. Most situations involving reclassification from Technician to Technologist require that the applicant write and pass a competency exam and submit a competency summary. Very few Technicians require only work experience to achieve Technologist.

A complete application for reclassification will include the following:
  • A completed CTTAM Application Form for Reclassification from Technician to Technologist can be found on the home page under "Forms and Downloads".
  • Part A of the application form includes academic documentation and/or course transcripts and applies only to Technicians who had academic requirements for reclassification
  • Part B of the application form - A detailed work history
  • Part C of the application form - A detailed current job description signed by the applicant’s supervisor plus the supervisor must sign the affidavit on page 2 of the application form
  • The names and contact information for three professional references
  • The reclassification fee of $45
*Applicants for reclassification for Technician to Technologist who were certified as Technician within the prior 12 months and are in the same job with same employer may not be requied to submit Parts B and C and professional references.  Applicants should consult with the Registrar.

Students

Student Members who have graduated and wish to become an Associate or a certified CTTAM Member must apply on-line at http://www.technologyregistrationscanada.ca.  

A complete on-line application must include the following:
  • Copies (.pdf) of the original diploma and transcripts
  • If the two year relevant work experience requirement has been met, the following documents must be provided as part of the application:
    • Work History (include current work history)
    • Detailed Current Job Description (must be signed on each page by the current supervisor)
    • Three (3) references (one must be the applicant's supervisor and the other two must be a C.E.T. or P.Eng. (E.I.T. also accepted).

The Registration fee of $140.00 is reduced for students who apply with CTTAM within 12 months of graduation. A $25 fee covers all materials & other costs.

Student Memberships are de-activated once a student has graduated.
